Mandatory Work duty
What does it mean to you?
Hi,
today I will tell you about the duty to work,
which came into effect on January 1, 2025.
It is of great importance to you,
who receive social assistance.
The work obligation applies
if you have lived in Denmark for less than 9 out of the last 10 years
and have not had at least 2.5 years of work in that period.
Then you must participate in an employment-oriented effort.
However, there are few exceptions and from July 1, 2025.
More citizens will be covered by the obligation to work.
The new rules mean,
that you must participate in up to 37 hours of activity per week.
It can be an ordinary job.
wage subsidies,
internship or utility job.
If you are employed in a company and receive a salary,
then your hours will be detracted from the hourly requirement.
Danish Lessons,
utility efforts and job search can also count,
if agreed with the municipality.
The aim of the work obligation is to help more people in jobs and
make it easier to become part of the labor market.
The municipality assesses,
what suits you best.
But remember,
if you are absent without a valid reason,
your benefit may be reduced.
